The Cornish Earth accreditation is for those on the journey of regenerative agriculture. You can get the accreditation once you are on the journey with plans in place for the short term. If you already have regenerative practices in place at the time of the start point visit, and we are satisfied that the short term plans are underway, then you will be awarded the accreditation at this point. Depending on what you are already doing, there are certain factors that we would hope to see you instigating straight away. However, as it is a journey, it is just a case of working towards the end goal, and perhaps for just part of your land at a time. It would not work, anyway, to make complete changes all at once.
An initial visit of approx 1½ hours gets the initial plan written. We do a number of soil tests for the starting point and ask to be shown relevant parts of your land.
We then revisit 3-6 months later depending on the time of year. If you have not previously undertaken any regenerative techniques previous to contacting us then this is when the accreditation will be given. At this point we put in place the medium and long term plan. The following visit is then 12 months later and every 12 months after that.
There are 9 main principles of Cornish Earth
1) Building soil health
2) Increasing perennial biomass
3) Increasing nutrient density of produce
4) Improving water cycle
5) Increasing bio-diversity
6) Reducing chemical use
7) Building community food security
8) Increasing resilience to climate change
9) Carbon footprint solutions*
We are a non-profit organization and offer our services for free. If you wish to have stickers/labels for your produce then you will need to purchase these yourself, at cost.
